(CNN)Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx will endorse Hillary Clinton on Monday in Iowa, according to a Clinton aide.
Fourth cabinet secretary to endorse Hillary Clinton
Foxx will be the fourth member of President Barack Obama's cabinet to endorse the former secretary of state, joining Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Julian Castro and Labor Secretary Tom Perez.
"(Hillary Clinton) is best positioned to continue the progress made by President Obama on a range of issues -- from strengthening our economy, to making the right investments in our infrastructure, to common-sense gun safety laws, to ensuring a fair criminal justice system," Foxx said in a statement provided to CNN by the Clinton campaign. "I look forward to hitting the road for Hillary and letting people know why she's the best candidate to lead our country."
Foxx, the former mayor of Charlotte who joined Obama's cabinet in 2013, will endorse Clinton at an organizing event in Waterloo, Iowa, on Monday.
The endorsement continues a string of high profile Democratic endorsements for Clinton, who has effectively positioned much of the Democratic establishment around her.
Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, Clinton's top Democratic opponent, has tried to use all the endorsements against the former first lady, arguing that all that establishment backing means Clinton will favor establishment politics.
"When you look at the major issues facing our country today ... I think if you look at those issues, what you conclude is that at this moment in our history, it is too late for establishment politics and establishment economics," Sanders said in New Hampshire this week.
