- A post on Hillary Clinton's campaign site was meant to humanize the Democratic presidential front-runner
- But many appeared to take offense
Washington (CNN)Sometimes when campaigns try to fit in, they end up standing out.
A post on Hillary Clinton's campaign site -- "7 things Hillary Clinton has in common with your abuela" -- was meant to humanize the Democratic presidential front-runner. It rattled off a few ways "Hillary is just like your grandmother," along with a few Spanish phrases, GIFs and a picture of the former secretary of state with singer Marc Anthony. The end of the page offered an email signup for "more abuela updates."
But many appeared to take offense, or at least find it amusing, that the campaign would use the Spanish-language word for grandmother to refer to Clinton. Twitter quickly lit up with the hashtags "#NotMyAbuela" and "#NotMiAbuela."
