Ben Carson may lead the GOP presidential field in some national polls, but he has fallen to fourth place in New Hampshire, according to a survey released Wednesday.
Carson only earns 9% in the latest Fox News poll – a third of the support earned by the other national front-runner, Donald Trump, who laps the field with 27%. The Fox survey mirrored a WBUR poll of the Granite State released earlier on Wednesday, which also showed Trump with a large lead over the rest of the field there.
Fox News’ poll shows Marco Rubio in second place, with 13% support, and Ted Cruz in third with 11%.
Following Carson are three candidates who have focused overwhelmingly on New Hampshire, which tends to support more moderate Republicans: Jeb Bush, John Kasich, and Chris Christie, who win 9%, 7% and 6%, respectively.
Rand Paul and Carly Fiorina earn 3% support. No other Republicans earns more than 1%.
In the Democratic race, Bernie Sanders of Vermont leads Hillary Clinton by 1 point, 45% to 44%. Martin O’Malley, who trails the pair nationally, earns 5% support.
The poll has a margin of error of 5.5 percentage points in the Democratic race and 5 points in the Republican race. 804 registered voters were sampled.
