(CNN)For the Chicago Cubs, the "Future" needs a big boost tonight.
Down 3 games to zilch to the New York Mets in the National League Championship Series, the long-suffering team is hoping to stay in the hunt for a World Series championship -- and keep alive some prognosticating in the 1989 film "Back to the Future II."
According to the film, protagonist Marty McFly traveled to October 21, 2015, to learn the Chicago Cubs won the World Series (over Miami, a city that didn't have a baseball team in 1989).
The last time the Cubs won the title was 1908.
Since then, die-hard Cubs fans have been chronicling the ups and downs of Chicago's North Side team, including purported curses on the team to explain the championship drought, according to the CubbiesBaseball.com website.
