(CNN)Joe Biden will speak with key members of the Democratic National Committee on Wednesday, pitching the influential Democrats on the administration's Iran nuclear deal, according to a Democrat who received the invite to the conference call.
Biden to pitch DNC members on the Iran nuclear deal
The afternoon conversation will be focused on the Iran deal, according to the email invite, but it comes at a time when Biden is actively considering launching a 2016 presidential bid. Members of the national committee would be key endorsements for the vice president, if he should decide to run.
President Barack Obama, Biden's boss and friend, gave the vice president his "blessing" to make a 2016 bid for the White House during their lunch on Monday, according to a senior Democrat. Biden has also been meeting with key advisers on his possible 2016 bid, and plans to meet with fundraisers and operatives in the coming weeks.
Biden has been a key pitchman for the administration's Iran deal and tried to sell House and Senate Democrats on the deal in July.
Members of Congress will take up the Iran deal when they return from their August recess.
