Hello everyone:
Some say the Confederate battle flag represents heritage. Others say it represents hate. Still others say it represents both – and deserves a place in a museum, illustrating the complicated racial history of the U.S.
And what about other symbols of the Confederacy? Do we need to rename every street, avenue and park named after Robert E. Lee? Or is it enough to have the next street over named after Martin Luther King, Jr?
How about statues and other memorials? Do they need to be hauled down by ropes like the statue of Saddam in Iraq? Should the Confederate heroes be sandblasted off the face of Stone Mountain, in Georgia?
Or are they an important reminder of our past, in all its glory and complexity? Of what made us who we are today?
What do you think?
