Juventus are going into Saturday’s Champions League final against Barcelona as the underdogs according to many observers, and it would appear France legend Marcel Desailly agrees.

Desailly, who won the competition with AC Milan in 1994, selected just three Juve players in his Ultimate XI – our interactive which lets you pick your dream team from the squads of the Italian champions and Barcelona.

Marcel Desailly won the Champions League with AC Milan in 1994.

From Juve, only midfielders Andrea Pirlo and Paul Pogba make the cut in Desailly’s team, along with Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.

In defense, Desailly went with the formidable quartet of Dani Alves, Gerard Pique, Javier Mascherano and Jordi Alba.

Spanish World Cup Andres Iniesta completes Desailly’s midfield three alongside Pirlo and Pogba, while there are no surprises up front with Desailly choosing Barca’s irresistible trio of Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Neymar.

Between them, those three players have scored 120 goals in all competitions.

Desailly and World Cup winner with France in 1998, admitted it was tough to overlook Barca’s Sergio Busquets but explained he couldn’t ignore the talents of Pirlo.

“You have to give Busquets credit but Pirlo just has something extra with the touch of the ball,” Desailly told CNN.

“I haven’t picked many Juventus players but they are there. They are very near, very close but we’re talking about the best players in the world in the Barcelona squad.”

Among Desailly’s omissions was one of his countrymen Patrice Evra, who plays at left back for Juve. In Berlin, Evra will walk play in the fifth Champions League final of his career.

“Evra, yes he’s a Frenchman, I would have loved to have put him but Alba is the future. Evra has done his bit and we love him but Alba would still be my choice.”

Marcel Desailly’s Ultimate XI:

Buffon; Alves, Pique, Mascherano, Alba; Pirlo, Pogba, Iniesta; Messi, Neymar, Suarez.
