(CNN) -- Count pop icon Cher among those unhappy with Gov. Chris Christie's pig veto.
Using a pig emoji, the singer tweeted this week that the New Jersey governor was a "despicable bully" for rejecting a bill that would have banned the use of gestation crates for pregnant sows.
Iowa🐖Farmers,WHY MUST U TORTURE PREG.PIGS? U PUT THEM IN CRATES & LOCK EM DOWN SO THEY CANT MOVE! C. CHRISTIE,UR DESPICABLE BULLY 4GET POTUS— Cher (@cher) December 3, 2014
While it's hardly an issue in New Jersey, the crates are used widely in Iowa -- the nation's top pork producer and an important state for anyone seeking a presidential nomination.
Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad, who personally lobbied Christie to veto the bill, responded to Cher.
"Yeah, I saw that. They know a lot about pig production in Hollywood," the Republican governor told reporters, according to the Des Moines Register.
Cher, however, disagreed with Branstad's assessment, tweeting again Wednesday afternoon that Hollywood does "know about pigs!"
