Missiles fired by what is thought to be a U.S. drone killed eight suspected militants and injured an unspecified number of other people in Pakistan's tribal region of North Waziristan on Wednesday morning, Pakistani intelligence sources said.
Four missiles hit a residential compound and a vehicle shortly before noon, the sources said.
North Waziristan, a mountainous region bordering Afghanistan, is part of Pakistan's loosely governed tribal areas and has long been a base for anti-government militants.
The compound that was hit Wednesday was known to house Uzbek militants, a local tribal elder told CNN.
