Ruby Dee through the years —
Ruby Dee, who died Wednesday, June 11, at age 91, had a long and lauded career as a stage performer, screen actress and civil rights activist. Her breakthrough role was in 1950's "The Jackie Robinson Story."

In 1961's "A Raisin in the Sun," Dee reprised her stage role as Ruth Younger, wife of the striving protagonist Walter Younger, played by Sidney Poitier.

Dee was a cast member of the hit soap "Peyton Place," appearing in the fifth season alongside Percy Rodrigues, who played her husband, a surgeon.
