(CNN) -- Two people died when a bus and car collided Monday near Atlantic City, New Jersey, a fire official said.
The accident occurred in Pleasantville, New Jersey, just before 2 p.m., New Jersey Transit spokesman John Durso Jr. said. The bus was headed to a mall outbound from Atlantic City.
Pleasantville Fire Capt. Tom Wittland said the people who died were passengers in the car.
There were several injuries, but none were life-threatening. Five people from the car and eight from the bus were taken to Atlantic City Medical Center, Pleasantville Fire Battalion Chief John Quigley said.
