(CNN) -- Two Egyptian police officers were injured during an attack near Cairo early Tuesday, Egypt's state news agency reported.

An improvised explosive device detonated at a traffic security checkpoint in Giza, according to Egynews.

There has been an increase in violence since the military ousted Egyptian president Mohammed Morsy last year.
