1 ISAF service member killed in attack on base in Afghanistan

An attack on a base in southern Afghanistan on Monday has killed one service member from the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force.

The base has since been secured and "all enemy forces" involved have been killed, ISAF said in a statement.

It described the assault as a "complex attack with a suicide vehicle-borne improvised explosive device, enemy forces with suicide vests and small arms fire."

The attack caused moderate damage to the outer perimeter of the base, ISAF said.
