(CNN) -- Two prisoners at the Guantanamo Bay detention facility have been transferred to the Saudi Arabian government, the Department of Defense said Monday.
Saad Muhammad Husayn Qahtani and Hamood Abdulla Hamood were released after the Guantanamo Review Task Force reviewed their cases, including the security issues involved, and approved the transfer.
"The United States is grateful to the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its willingness to support ongoing U.S. efforts to close the Guantanamo Bay detention facility," a DOD news release says. The release did not say when the transfer took place.
As of Monday, 160 detainees remained at Guantanamo Bay.
