Swedish journalists abducted in Syria while trying to leave the country

(CNN) -- Two Swedish journalists were abducted in Syria as they tried to travel out of the country, said Swedish Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Camilla Akesson Lindblom on Tuesday.

Reporters Without Borders Sweden said in a statement that the journalists were abducted Saturday by unknown kidnappers.

"Syria is a nightmare to work in right now" said RWB president Jonathan Lundqvist.
