(CNN) -- An American Airlines flight headed from England to Chicago safely made an emergency landing Friday at Ireland's Shannon Airport, an airport official told CNN.

The official did not specify what the emergency on Flight 55 was.

The Boeing 767-300, which had taken off from Manchester, had 212 people aboard. All got off the plane after the landing in Ireland, said Niall Maloney, the head of operations for Shannon Airport.
