Police were looking Thursday for a person who may have rappelled from scaffolding on the side of the Brooklyn Bridge down to a roof, the New York Police Department said.
The search, which included helicopters, began after a tip from a phone call. Later, a video purportedly showing the event was posted on YouTube.
The man may have slid down a plastic hose on the Brooklyn side of the bridge, Detective Martin Speechley told CNN.
The hose and scaffolding are part of construction work that is to continue for the next couple of years, he said.
He said police have filed a report alleging criminal trespassing.
