Officials: Four Italian journalists released from captivity in Syria

(CNN) -- Four Italian journalists who had been held hostage in Syria for more than a week have been released, according to the Italian Foreign Ministry on Saturday.

There were no details of the conditions of the four the government statement.

Italian news agency ANSA reported the quartet was abducted in northern Syria on April 5. After their release, they were taken to Turkey, ANSA said.
