Back in the game – On Monday, Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn announced their relationship to the world. Both at the top of their respective sports, the golfer and the skier come together off the back of failed marriages - notoriously so in Woods' case.
Following Rory's lead – Woods joins good friend, fellow golfer and World No. 1 Rory McIlroy in dating a high-profile athlete, with the Northern Irishman stepping out with tennis player Caroline Wozniacki. Ranked the best in the world when they fell for one another, the Dane has since sunk to NINTH.
Summer of Love (Chris Evert Pt I) – Fiancees Jimmy Connors and Chris Evert will never forget the 1974 Wimbledon Championships, when the Americans won their respective singles titles - before celebrating their feat with an embrace on Center Court. Sadly for Connors, Evert had plenty more aces up her sleeve.
Courting attention – After failed relationships with Spanish golfer Sergio Garcia, English footballer Sol Campbell and Czech tennis player Radek Štěpánek, former Swiss tennis player Martina Hingis found love with show jumper Thibault Hutin -- marrying the Frenchman in 2010.
Perfect landing – After defecting from communist Romania in 1989, Olympic legend Nadia Comăneci found her way, via Canada, to love. Fellow Olympic gymnastic champion Bart Conner had never forgotten the girl he first met as a teenager - and the American married the sporting heroine in a 1996 ceremony broadcast live in Romania.
Testing the water (Evert Pt II) – Five years after breaking off her engagement to Connors, Chris Evert did finally marry a tennis player - John Lloyd of Great Britain, in 1979. The relationship did not last, with the couple divorcing in 1987.
Love match – Husband-and-wife team Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf are tennis royalty - in more ways than one. Boasting 30 grand slams between them, the American married the German in 2001 for the highest-profile relationship - and arguably the most popular - the sport has produced.
American dream – After one failed marriage, two-time female football World Cup winner Mia Hamm finally found her perfect match when marrying then Boston Red Sox star Nomar Garciaparra in 2003 - with the couple's third child arriving into the world last year.
Downhill course (Evert Pt III) – A year after her divorce, the former Mrs Evert-Lloyd was ready to take the plunge again - marrying U.S. Olympic downhill skier Andy Mill. Three sons soon followed, but the crash came after 18 years of marriage when Evert filed for divorce.
Czech mates – Sharing the same date of birth, legendary long distance runner Emil Zatopek and his wife Dana Zatopkova, a javelin thrower, also won Olympic titles on the very same day - with the couple showing their four gold medals here. Emil passed away in 2000, leaving behind the wife he married 52 years earlier.
A royal affair – The news of the romance between England's rugby World Cup winner Mike Tindall and Zara Philips, the Queen's granddaughter, came as a surprise to many - but they happily tied the knot in 2011. One year later, Philips won an Olympic silver in the equestrian team event.
Swiss timing – 17-time grand slam winner Roger Federer met his wife while both were competing for Switzerland at the 2000 Olympics. Injury forced Mirka to retire from tennis in 2002, since when she has worked as her husband's PR manager.
That sinking feeling (Evert Pt IV) – After her second divorce, Chris Evert sprang into a relationship with Australian golfer Greg Norman - but perhaps predictably, the marriage failed to last. They couple after only 18 months in 2009 - and the American has not remarried since.
