Strong quake reported in Pacific

(CNN) -- A 6.9 magnitude earthquake has been reported near the Kuril Islands, the U.S. Geological Survey said Thursday.
The location, in the Pacific, is more than 50 miles southeast of Ozernovskiy, Russia.
The depth was recorded at 52 kilometers, the survey said.
