(CNN) -- Irate football fans set fire to stands and hurled objects onto the field during an African Cup qualifying match between Senegal and Ivory Coast on Saturday.

No one was seriously injured during the melee in Dakar, Senegal's interior minister said, according to Agence de Presse Senegalese.

Debris -- including what appeared to be chunks of concrete -- littered the ground.

AFP journalist Thomas Felix told CNN that the ruckus was apparently started by Senegalese fans.

Ivory Coast defeated Senegal 2-0 in a match critical for Senegal.

Because Ivory Coast had already defeated Senegal 4-2 in an earlier match, Senegal had to defeat its opponent by at least two goals to qualify for the 2013 African Cup of Nations (CAN), according to APS.

Senegalese Interior Minister Mbaye Ndiaye described the incident as regrettable and praised the Ivory Coast's performance during the match.

CNN's Patrick Snell contributed to this report.
