CNN  —

President Barack Obama will visit the World Trade Center site in New York on June 14, a White House spokesman said Friday.

Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest said Obama would get a briefing on construction at the site targeted by the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

The National September 11 Memorial and Museum is under construction at the site, as well as a new One World Trade Center.

Obama last visited the site in September to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the 2001 attacks by al Qaeda that killed more than 2,000 people and destroyed the twin towers of the World Trade Center.

Earlier this year, the One World Trade Center edifice surpassed the Empire State Building as the city’s tallest structure.
