NEW YORK (CNN) -- Two people were injured, one critically, after a crane collapsed at a construction site in New York City Tuesday evening, according to a spokesperson for the Fire Department of New York.
The accident happened about 7:30 p.m. at a construction site off 11th Avenue between 33rd and 34th streets.
Two pieces of the crane broke loose and fell on the site, one 80-foot piece and one 40-foot piece, according to the FDNY.
Several streets surrounding the accident remain closed as emergency officials continue to investigate.
