Q: I'm in my 30s and already seeing age spots on my hands. Are they reversible?

Bobbi: Let's call them what they really are -- sun spots. They're caused by UV exposure (why sun worshippers may start seeing spots in their 20s).

A foundation stick in your skin tone can hide spots, but to get rid of them, try an OTC lightener with hydroquinone or a prescription vitamin A-based cream like Renova. If that doesn't work, ask your derm about laser resurfacing.

Q: Whenever I try a new concealer, it disappears or is super cakey. What am I doing wrong?

Bobbi: Check the consistency of your cover-up. You want one that is creamy enough to provide coverage and not flake, but not so creamy that it sinks into your skin and disappears. Start testing to find one that looks -- and feels -- natural.

You may also have to adjust your moisturizer. Too much prevents concealer from absorbing into your skin, while too little can make it cakey. Remember that your skin changes from day to day, so check it out in the morning (is it dry? oily?) to decide how much hydration you need.

Q: I recently colored my hair and my highlights are already fading. How can I keep them fresh?

Bobbi: Instead of paying to color it again, try a DIY highlight enhancer, which revives color with natural tints. Brunettes should rinse with 2 cups of cool black coffee over damp hair in the shower; leave on for 10 minutes, then shampoo.

If you're a blonde, use 3 cups of cooled chamomile tea throughout wet hair; wait 15 minutes before shampooing. Redheads, add 1 cup of rose hips (from a health-food store) to 2 cups of boiling water, let cool, then leave on damp hair for 20 minutes before washing. Bonus: All of these condition as well!
