(CNN) -- An Iranian graduate student was killed in an attack this weekend in front of his Tehran house, Iranian media said Sunday.

Iranian media had earlier reported that Daryoush Rezaie, 35, who was killed Saturday, was a nuclear scientist.

"The person, who was assassinated in Tehran in-front of his house yesterday, is one of the university students who are studying a master's degree in the field of electricity at Nasir al-Din University," said Fars, the official Iranian news agency.

"Rezaie was working in the ministry of defense, but the media refers to him as a nuclear scientist. This is not true because he holds a bachelor's degree in the electrical department at the university," Fars said.

His wife suffered injuries and was taken to a hospital, according to the semiofficial Iranian Students' News Agency, or ISNA.

Rezaie taught at a college in the northwestern city of Ardebil, according to Iranian media.
