Baghdad, Iraq (CNN) -- A private airplane crashed just after takeoff from an airport in Sulaimaniya Friday, killing seven people, airport officials said.

The crash killed three crew members and four businessmen who were heading to Turkey. It appears that a technical failure caused the crash, airport director Taher Abdullah said at a news conference.

An investigative committee will travel to Sulaimaniya from Baghdad on Saturday to look into the accident, Abdullah said.

Sulaimaniya, located 260 kilometers north of Baghdad, is the second-largest city in Iraq's Kurdish region.
