Baghdad (CNN) -- Two U.S. service members were killed in central Iraq on Sunday night while supporting Operation New Dawn, according to a statement from the U.S. military in Iraq.
The names of the deceased and details of the incident were not released, pending notification of relatives, the statement said.

Operation New Dawn began September 1, 2010, as officials declared the end of combat operations in Iraq. As part of the operation, U.S. forces remaining in the country are expected to serve in an advise-and-assist role.
