Islamabad, Pakistan (CNN) -- An explosion at a mosque in northern Paksitan during Friday prayers killed at least nine people and wounded 33 others, officials said.
Hundreds of people were inside the shrine in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province at the time of the blast, police official Kareem Khan said.
Food was being distributed when the explosion occurred, he said.
The blast took place in the village of Akbar Pura in Nowhera district, police official Salimullah Khan said.
