Quake hits near India-Myanmar border

(CNN) -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.4 hit Friday near the border between India and Myanmar, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The quake struck just after 8:20 p.m. about 50 miles (85 km) east of Imphal, a town in eastern India, the Survey said.

Its epicenter was about 55 miles (89 km) deep.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
