Atlanta, Georgia (CNN) -- Police arrested a 22-year-old security guard and charged him Friday with murder and aggravated assault in a triple shooting in a garage in Atlanta's Midtown neighborhood.
Nkosi Thandiwe surrendered to police Friday afternoon and was charged with one count of murder and two counts of aggravated assault related to the shooting death of a woman and the wounding of two other people earlier in the day, said Carlos Campos, a spokesman for the Atlanta Police Department.
The incident occurred in a Midtown parking deck across from the 25-story Proscenium building, where Thandiwe was working Friday as a security guard, said Campos.
The first shooting occurred on the third floor of the parking deck, where Thandiwe was waiting for the woman he killed, Campos said. The suspect was inside the victim's Toyota Prius when he shot the woman, who also worked in the Proscenium Building, Campos said.
Thandiwe went on to shoot two other victims -- one in the back and the other in an ankle, said Officer K.Y. Jones of the Atlanta Police Department.
Thandiwe then drove in the car belonging to the dead woman out of the parking lot, Campos said. Police recovered the vehicle in southwest Atlanta, and are investigating whether he and the victim may have known each other, Campos said.
After Thandiwe learned the police had identified him, he contacted an attorney and turned himself in, Campos said. He was taken to Fulton County Jail.
