Washington (CNN) -- A law enforcement official says information culled from the materials seized at Osama bin Laden's Pakistan hideout has been farmed out to many of the 56 FBI field offices across the country to check out. As the material has been exploited, officials have come across evidence like phone numbers, and it is being "pushed to the logical places to follow up and pursue," the official said.
"It is all being looked at to see how it factors into other information that we have acquired, but it shouldn't be interpreted that we have plots that are in the making and are now being stamped out," the official said.
To his knowledge, no new plots have been uncovered, he said, though technically speaking some new investigations have been opened.
"Someone is hearing that we are pursuing the evidence and confusing that with uncovering a new plot," he said. "That is not the case."
