3 killed in New York building fire

(CNN) -- Three people were killed in an early morning building fire in the Bronx, authorities in New York said Monday.

James Leonard, the deputy assistant fire chief with the New York City Fire Department, told reporters that about 100 firefighters battled the blaze.

In addition to the three fatalities, four people suffered minor injuries, Leonard said.

Officials have not determined a cause for the fire.
