New York (CNN) -- One person was killed and at least five injured after a small bus and tractor trailer collided Wednesday afternoon on a road in Long Island, New York, authorities told CNN.

Five of the injured were rushed to Peconic Bay Medical Center, according hospital spokeswoman Sharon Tietze.

The bus had markings on its side indicating that it was from Maryhaven Center of Hope, she said.

The center works with adults and senior citizens with disabilities, according to its website.

CNN affiliate WABC broadcast images of the bus on its side with apparent damage on the rear left side.

The crash comes on the heels of another and more deadly bus crash in the Bronx in March that left 15 people dead.

That crash involved a tour bus which prompted a National Transportation Safety Board investigation and subsequent lawsuits.
