Boot Camp camera guide: Tablet PCs

(CNN) -- They are often overlooked as a tool for journalism, but the tablet computer's explosion in popularity after the release of Apple's iPad means almost anyone who owns one of these has their own Swiss army knife for capturing breaking news.

Like many smartphones, both Android and Apple tablets can use apps like iReport's, allowing you to do mobile uploads of your pictures and video. To top things off, many tablets allow you to edit your pictures and video on the fly.

Verdict: Though most tablet cameras are of lower quality than many cellphones, they are nonetheless worthy and versatile tools.
