(CNN) -- One person was killed and a police officer was critically injured in a shooting Sunday evening at a hotel in downtown Memphis, Tennessee.
Officials did not release additional information about the wounded officer, with Police Director Toney Armstrong telling reporters late Sunday that they will notify family members first.
Earlier, Memphis Police Dept. Sgt. Tara Rudolph told CNN that a police officer had been injured after being hit by gunfire at the Doubletree Hotel. She said the officer was taken to the Regional Medical Center at Memphis where he was in critical condition.
Investigators believe that the shooting was related to a domestic incident, according to Armstrong and Memphis Mayor A.C. Wharton, Jr.
CNN's Greg Morrison contributed to this report.
