It had a rough landing and flipped on its side

CNN  —

At least 26 people were injured when a plane crash-landed at the airport in Osh, Kyrgyzstan Wednesday, the country’s Health Ministry said, according to the Kyrgyz AKI-press news agency.

The Kyrgyzstan Airlines Tu-134 aircraft skidded off the runway and flipped on its side, officials said.

“The landing was performed in thick fog. The plane skidded off the runway and turned to the left side. Its wing was smashed off. A loud explosion was heard,” an airport spokesman told the Russian state news agency RIA Novosti.

There were 70 people on board, the agency reported.

The plane was en route from the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek.

The Russian-made Tupolev Tu-134 is a twin-engined airliner used still in many central Asian countries.
