- One reportedly crashes; the other makes a landing
One small plane crashed and another apparently was able to make an emergency landing Tuesday afternoon after a midair collision near Newberg, Oregon, authorities said.
The collision occurred at 4:19 p.m., Sgt. James Rhodes of the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office said.
Preliminary information indicated that one of the planes had landed safely, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Mike Fergus said.
Debris was found inside Yamhill County, southwest of Portland, Rhodes told CNN.
Rhodes said he had no information about any casualties.
One plane landed in Champoeg State Park -- between Newberg and Wilsonville, according to CNN Portland affiliate KATU.
