- Officers found the bodies while performing a welfare check
- The victims include two children, ages 10 and 8
Police in New York found a family of four dead inside a house in Westchester County Tuesday -- the victims of an apparent murder-suicide.
The New York State Police said officers found the bodies when they were asked to perform a welfare check on the family.
The victims were a 50-year-old man, a 46-year-old woman and two children, ages 10 and 8.
Police did not say how the four were related, but CNN affiliate WABC reported the children were siblings who went to Lewisboro Elementary School.
A statement posted on the school website confirmed it.
"We have been informed by the New York State police, with confirmation from other agencies, that a tragedy resulting in the death of two Lewisboro Elementary School students, and their parents has occurred this evening in their home," it said.
