(CNN) -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.2 struck near San Salvador de Jujuy, in northern Argentina, on Thursday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The quake hit at a depth of 5.9 miles. It hit near the Argentine borders with Bolivia and Paraguay.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
