Nigerian police are looking for suspects after "bandits" armed with guns and machetes descended upon a village, ransacking farms and killing 18 people, a police spokesman said Sunday.
Sunusi Amiru, a spokesman with Zamfara state police, said the investigation was into "why and how" the group organized Saturday's attack was ongoing.
Six people were injured as a result of the raid, which occurred in the Lingyado village around 5 a.m. Saturday.
Zamfara, a state in northern Nigeria, is a largely rural, semi-autonomous region.
