Jerusalem (CNN) -- Israeli rescue crews have found the bodies of two Israeli air force pilots whose jet crashed during training in southern Israel, the military said Thursday.

A two-seat F-16I fighter jet crashed in Makhtesh Ramon on Wednesday night. The pilots were Maj. Amihai Itkis, 28, and Maj. Emanuel Levy, 30.

Israel has ordered an investigation and a halt to all training for the planes, known in Israel as Soufa fighter jets.

The crash comes three months after six Israeli air force crew members and a Romanian air force observer died in a helicopter crash during training in Romania.
