Baghdad, Iraq (CNN) -- Gunmen stormed a money exchange bureau in southeastern Baghdad on Thursday, killing three employees and wounding eight others before getting away, police said.
The gunmen threw blinding flash bombs to distract guards and made their escape. Police did not immediately know how much money was looted in the heist.
Baghdad has seen a spike in such incidents in recent months and authorities believe that insurgents are using stolen money to fund terrorist operations.
