Four killed in Baghdad violence

Baghdad, Iraq(CNN) -- At least two police officers were killed and four others wounded in a double bombing in central Baghdad on Monday, the Interior Ministry said.

The police were in Sheikh Omar area of Baghdad defusing a roadside bomb near a restaurant when a second one detonated, the official said.

In another attack Monday, gunmen stormed a house in southern Baghdad and killed two women. Two men and two more women were wounded in the attack. The motive behind the killings was not clear.

Overall, violence in Iraq has dropped drastically over the past two years compared with the height of the sectarian war in 2006 and 2007, but attacks still continue.

A number of similar slayings have occurred in recent weeks.
