(CNN) -- At least 12 people were wounded by Israeli airstrikes in Gaza, Hamas officials said Saturday.
The strikes occurred Friday near Gaza's defunct airport in southern Gaza, the officials said.
Israel Defense Forces officials confirmed that they conducted airstrikes in the area and the targets were "terror" sites.
The incident comes a day after a worker from Thailand was killed when a rocket fired from Gaza landed inside southern Israel.
After the killing, the IDF conducted airstrikes on six sites in Gaza Strip on Thursday night in an action it called retaliation for attacks by Palestinian militants.
Five tunnels used for smuggling and terror activities and a weapons manufacturing site were the targets of the airstrike, the IDF said.
