(CNN) -- Al Qaeda's affiliate in Yemen posted a video online Tuesday, blasting the country's president and what it called the "appalling corruption of the regime."
"For 30 years, the president had nothing but rosy speeches, empty words and meaningless slogans," says the narrator of the video by al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, which was posted on radical Islamist Web sites.
"Corruption in Yemen is at the worst levels in comparison to the rest of the world and that's why the crisis escalated and exploded."
The video is dated late November or early December 2009, but was only posted on Tuesday. It is not clear what caused the delay in posting it.
It features a former Guantanamo Bay detainee who is now second in command of the Yemeni group.
The man, Saeed Ali Shihri, also known as Abu Sufyan Azdi, is from Saudi Arabia. Abu Baseer Nasir al-Wahayshi, the alleged leader of the group, also appears in the video.
The video ends with an old message from Osama Bin Laden saying, "We will never let you down until we taste victory. The wave of jihad is coming and the Yemeni wave will always be there."
Jihad means holy war.
