Berlin, Germany (CNN) -- At least two people, including the suspected shooter, are dead after a woman opened fire at a hospital in southern Germany, a police spokesman said Sunday.
A police officer was also seriously injured in the attack that happened at the St. Elisabethen hospital in Loerrach, a city in southwest Germany, said Dietmar Ernst, a police spokesman.
He added that police also found a woman and child dead in a home close to the hospital, but that investigators do not know yet how or whether their deaths and those at the hospital are related.
Authorities responding to a fire caused by a small explosion at the home saw a woman armed with a weapon running from the residence toward the hospital, according to a police statement.
