(CNN) -- Three suspected militants were killed Sunday in a suspected U.S. drone strike in northwest Pakistan, officials told CNN.

Two Pakistani intelligence officials said the drone fired two missiles at a suspected militant near the Spin Wam area of North Waziristan, one of the seven districts in Pakistan's tribal region along the Afghan border.

The officials asked not to be named because they are not authorized to speak to the media.

The United States does not officially confirm that it has unmanned aircraft firing missiles at terror targets in Pakistan, but it is the only country in the region known to have the capability to do so.
