Islamabad, Pakistan (CNN) -- Four suspected militants were killed in a U.S. drone strike in northwestern Pakistan, Pakistani intelligence officials tell CNN.
Two intelligence officials said the drone fired two missiles at a suspected militant vehicle at a village near Miranshah, North Waziristan.
North Waziristan is one of seven districts in Pakistan's tribal region along the Afghan border, and widely believed to be a safe haven for al Qaeda linked militants who are fueling the insurgency in Afghanistan.
Based on count by CNN, Friday's drone strike was the 96th this year, compared to 52 in 2009.
The officials asked not to be named because they are not authorized to speak to the media.
