Islamabad, Pakistan (CNN) -- At least five suspected militants were killed Sunday in a U.S. drone strike in Pakistan's tribal region, officials told CNN.

A local political official and an intelligence official said the drone fired two missiles at a suspected militant compound in a village about 4 kilometers (2 miles) outside of Mir Ali, a town in North Waziristan, one of the seven districts in Pakistan's tribal region along the Afghan border.

The officials asked not to be identified because they are not authorized to speak to the media.
