NATO: Troop killed in Afghanistan attack

(CNN) -- A NATO troop died after an insurgent attack in eastern Afghanistan Tuesday, the organization's International Security Assistance Force said in a statement.

The force did not provide details about the attack, and said it defers identification of casualties to the relevant national authorities.

The death brings the total number of coalition troops killed in Afghanistan this year to 648, according to a CNN tally.
